About a 2-1/2 hour autoroute drive from Paris, and twenty minutes from Normandy's capital city Caen and the historic D-Day beaches and Memorial, Dives-sur-Mer was the embarkation point for William the Conqueror's invasion of England in 1066. Twenty minutes west is the town of Ouistreham, where a car ferry runs from Portsmouth, England. Dives is a three hour drive from Calais, where the Channel Tunnel terminates. An S.N.C.F. station right inside Port Guillaume allows one to catch a train directly to (and from) Paris — a little over two hours to the Gare St. Lazare! | ||||
